I'm thrilled to kick off our weekly blog post to keep you in the loop about all the buzz happening at Danelle's Critters. It's been quite a juggling act with my animal chores taking center stage, but I'm determined to share the excitement of this wild journey with you. From caring for our furry and scaly friends to managing social media, blogging, and upcoming video content, it's been a whirlwind. Let's dive right into the highlights!

Animal Spotlight 🦎

Here at Danelle's Critters, our love for animals knows no bounds. Each week, I'll introduce you to a new addition or species that's caught my eye. For this edition, meet my latest arrivals, the African house snakes! I stumbled upon this adorable pair at the Raleigh Repticon in August, labeled as Kenyan Red Albino African house snakes. Although the female isn't as red as expected, they are both stunning. Currently, they're in quarantine, so we're keeping our interactions to a minimum. Fingers crossed, we'll be welcoming their offspring into the world in 2025.

Oh, and speaking of new critters, we've got a cat now. After our beloved family cat passed away last year, my son's longing for a feline companion was undeniable. Thanks to a friend's thoughtfulness, we now have a cuddly half-grown cat in our midst. Our 17-year-old son has taken charge of her care, as my energy is mostly reserved for our critters.

Upcoming Events 🌐

We're gearing up for some exciting events! Next Sunday, find us at the Durham Armory in Durham, NC, for the Show Me Reptiles event. It's bound to be a blast, and we can't wait to meet many of you there!

Mark your calendars for October 14th and 15th when we'll be at Repticon (Cabarrus Arena & Events Center) in Charlotte, NC. We're keeping our fingers crossed for baby snakes to be available at this event. While some have already enjoyed a few meals, we're working on making them less squirmy and much less bitey before they find new homes.
